Since 2003, Michael Johnson and his wife, Julie, have pursued a unique passion to prepare smart singles for success in their future marriage – way in advance of engagement and, preferably, ahead of a serious dating relationship. This is why they founded Future Marriage University. After guiding several singles groups through a 14-week Marriage Ed class, Michael developed in conjunction with Strong Tower Bible Church, they started taking the FMU message to other churches and college campuses. They reside outside of Nashville, Tennessee with their five children.

This study guide is designed for small groups, but you can work through it in pairs or on your own. This is not a study guide for co-ed groups because vulnerability is the key to getting the most out of your group interaction. Most people will not be as transparent in a co-ed setting as they will in a group of like gender (and, truthfully, no one should be as transparent in a co-ed setting). Further, despite the marital focus on this guide, like all FMU Success Prep Study Guides, this study is meant for singles – smart singles – not couples.

Many people stagnate at some level with each of these issues, but when they do, they pay the price; and when they get married their marriage pays the price. Sometimes that price is divorce.
